The LIGNOLOC® 4.7 × 58 mm wooden nail with head (item no. CN47AGWO-H.6) is the most compact wooden nail with head in BECK’s LIGNOLOC® range. With a length of 58 mm, it is specifically designed for thinner façade boards and lightweight panels – typically 18–25 mm thick face boards installed on a softwood substructure.

It is suitable for timber façades, privacy screens, garden sheds, garden pavilions, room dividers, and both interior and exterior applications. For thicker assemblies with face boards of 25 mm or more, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head are also available in lengths of 64 mm and 78 mm.

The 58 mm LIGNOLOC® wooden nail with head is the right choice when the required penetration depth into the supporting material – such as battens or counter-battens – is at least 30–35 mm and the façade boards are approximately 18–22 mm thick.

As a general design rule, the penetration depth into the supporting timber should be at least 1.5 to 2 times the thickness of the face board. However, the design values specified in the ETA and the project-specific structural design must always be taken into account.

For face boards thicker than 22 mm, the 64 mm or 78 mm LIGNOLOC® wooden nail with head is recommended. The free LIGNOLOC® design software by BECK provides a standards-compliant recommendation for each assembly.

Depending on the requirements, stainless-steel nails, façade screws, or metal-free wooden nails can be used for timber façades. The appropriate fastener depends on the wood species, façade construction, design requirements, durability specifications, and considerations relating to circularity and the building’s carbon footprint.

This is where the LIGNOLOC® system offers significant advantages over metal fasteners: wood remains wood, and no foreign material is introduced. Compared with metal nails, using LIGNOLOC® as a façade fastening solution can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 66%.

The BECK LIGNOLOC® 4.7 × 58 mm wooden nail with head was specifically developed for visible fastening in timber façades. As a completely metal-free fastener, it is particularly suitable for façades made from larch, spruce, fir, and other wood species where corrosion staining or visible metal points are to be avoided.

Its wooden head blends harmoniously into the façade surface and enables a visually appealing fastening solution without visible metal components. Wooden nails can be sanded and coated together with the façade. In addition, compared with steel fasteners, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails reduce thermal bridging in the façade to an absolute minimum.

The 58 mm version is suitable for façade boards approximately 18–25 mm thick. For thicker façade assemblies, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head are also available in lengths of 64 mm and 78 mm.

The BECK LIGNOLOC® 4.7 × 58 mm wooden nail with head must be installed exclusively using the FASCO® F60 CN15-PS90-H LIGNOLOC® coil nailer.

This pneumatic tool is specifically configured for LIGNOLOC® wooden nails. Its air pressure, driving depth, and feed mechanism are designed for wood-based fasteners.

Standard coil nailers for steel nails are not suitable, as their different operating parameters may cause nail breakage, misfires, or incorrect driving depth. They may also invalidate the ETA approval of the connection.

For industrial automation applications, the HEAD CN15-PS90-H LIGNOLOC® nailing head is available as an alternative.

The BECK F60 LIGNOLOC® tool is compatible with all three lengths of LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head: 58 mm, 64 mm, and 78 mm.

When the LIGNOLOC® wooden nail is driven using the pneumatic FASCO® nailer, intense friction generates heat at the tip of the nail. This activates the natural lignin in the wooden nail and creates a bonded connection between the nail and the surrounding wood fibres. This effect is known as lignin adhesion.

The resulting connection values for LIGNOLOC® wooden nails are documented in European Technical Assessment ETA-23-0041 for LIGNOLOC® wooden nails without head and ETA-23-0330 for LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head. These values can be used for the structural design of timber-to-timber connections.

This provides planners and timber construction companies with a reliable basis for using LIGNOLOC® in professional timber construction projects.

Unlike metal fasteners, they cannot cause corrosion-related discoloration or rust marks on the timber surface.

Yes. Larch façades can be safely fastened using LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head.

Because of its relatively high density and natural drying stresses, larch places increased demands on fastening technology.

The blunt anti-splitting tip of the LIGNOLOC® wooden nail with head reduces the risk of timber splitting during mechanical installation, including in dry, planed, and narrow façade boards.

Larch also contains natural substances that may react with metal screws or nails. As metal-free fasteners, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head are therefore particularly suitable for preventing corrosion-related discoloration or rust marks on the façade surface and maintaining an attractive appearance over the long term.
