For the wall and ceiling cladding of the new swimming hall, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails were used – the innovative, corrosion-free fastening solution for humid environments.

Project Summary

The Municipality of Vindafjord opted for a particularly sustainable solution when constructing their new swimming hall. The spruce and pine wall and ceiling surfaces were to be fastened permanently, resistant to corrosion, and without any visible metal parts. LIGNOLOC® wooden nails offered the ideal solution for these requirements.

Fastening Challange

In swimming pools, humid and chlorinated conditions expose conventional metal fasteners to strong corrosion. Typically, stainless steel fasteners would have to be used — an expensive solution that only reduces corrosion risks but cannot eliminate them entirely.

The challenge, therefore, was to identify a fastening method that is corrosion-free, economical, and at the same time more sustainable than metallic alternatives.

For the wall and ceiling claddings of the swimming hall, LIGNOLOC® wooden nails were used. The nails are driven directly into the wood using a LIGNOLOC® nailer by BECK, creating a strong, completely metal-free wood-to-wood connection. This installation technique is particularly suitable for humid and chlorinated environments, as it eliminates the need for metallic fasteners and thus completely eliminates corrosion risks.

Using wooden nails allowed the extensive spruce and pine surfaces to be installed cleanly, efficiently, and using pure materials — ideal for a homogeneous appearance and long-lasting reliability in swimming pool construction.
