A purist, wood-based home in Svartskog – sustainable, natural, and authentic down to the last detail.

Material and initial situation

For the façade cladding, tall-grown spruce from Telemark was used. Since the surface was intended to remain as natural as possible and age evenly over the years, the decision was made to fasten it with LIGNOLOC® wooden nails. This created a fully wood-based façade appearance that ages naturally thanks to its material purity – all panels and fastening points are made of wood, without metal or full-surface bonding.

Fastening in exterior applications

LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head are ETA-approved for use in exterior applications. They are patented and specifically engineered to securely fasten siding components under varying moisture and weather conditions – completely without metallic thermal bridges in the wood. The dimensionally stable nail head provides the required holding pressure and keeps the siding boards reliably in place, even during movements of swelling and shrinkage. Before installation began, a professional on-site inspection was carried out to precisely coordinate edge distances, depth settings, and the optimal application of LIGNOLOC® wooden nails.

LIGNOLOC® is remarkably easy to work with. We encountered no issues with the wooden nails – quite the opposite: they give the wall an incredibly beautiful, homogeneous appearance. The combination of mountain spruce and LIGNOLOC® creates siding that is impressive both visually and technically. Even with the nail diameter we used, we experienced virtually no cracking in the supporting wood, despite the pneumatic installation!
