Bundwerk barn

Kreil (Tann), Germany

Traditional Bundwerk barn in bavaria

The constructed Bundwerk barn is based on the traditional construction style of agricultural buildings from the 19th century in Upper and Lower Bavaria. The aim of the project was to authentically implement historic carpentry constructions while simultaneously using modern manufacturing technologies to ensure an economically viable realization. LIGNOLOC® wooden nails by BECK can be driven in with pneumatic nailers and enable durable wood-to-wood connections without the use of metallic fasteners.

More about LIGNOLOC® wooden nails

Tradition and innovation go hand in hand.

The structure was designed using CAD, while most of the timber fabrication was carried out using a modern joinery system. Due to the natural twisting of the structural timber, the dovetail lap joints were traditionally crafted by hand to ensure the precise execution of these historic timber connections. The traditional board-and-batten cladding was fastened using LIGNOLOC® wooden nails by BECK.
