LIGNOLOC® Wooden Nails with Head 4.7 | 64 mm

LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head 4.7 x 64MM are an innovative solution for fastening in modern timber construction. They enable permanent and metal-free connections in wood and engineered wood products and are collated in coils for efficient use with pneumatic nailers by BECK.

Thanks to their head design, they are ideally suited for applications that require a secure finish – for example in panel fastening, façades, or visible timber constructions. During driving, the thermo-mechanical lignin welding effect creates a firm bond between nail and wood.

With a diameter of 4.7 mm, the wooden nails provide a high level of stability and load-bearing capacity. At the same time, they represent a sustainable alternative to conventional metal fasteners, as they support the complete recyclability of wooden components, prevent thermal bridges in timber, and can be reworked without tool wear.

  • Metal-free fastening: permanent wood-to-wood connections without metal screws or nails

  • Sustainable & recyclable: timber components remain fully recyclable

  • Strong fastening: 4.7 mm diameter ensures high load-bearing capacity

  • Efficient processing: collated in coils for use with BECK pneumatic tools

  • No thermal bridges: prevents energy loss in timber structures

  • Reworkable without tool wear

  • Visually appealing: nails with head ensure a clean finish for visible applications

FAQs

The LIGNOLOC® 4.7 × 64 mm wooden nail with head is a collated fastener made of highly compressed beech wood. As the intermediate length within the range of wooden nails with head, it is suitable for visible, metal-free fastening where greater penetration is required than the 58 mm version can provide.

The 64 mm version is suitable for timber façades, privacy screens, summer houses, garden pavilions and room dividers. It can be used for indoor and outdoor applications, provided that the component design, wood species and structural requirements are taken into account.

The 64 mm length is suitable when the 58 mm version does not provide the required penetration into the substructure and a 78 mm nail is not necessary for the assembly. The main factors are the thickness of the component being fixed, the required anchorage in the supporting timber, the wood species and the specified edge distances.

All three versions have a shank diameter of 4.7 mm and a head diameter of 6.3 mm. They differ in their overall length and therefore in the penetration available within the substructure. The 64 mm version sits between the 58 and 78 mm variants and provides an additional option for appropriately dimensioned façade and timber assemblies.

The wooden nail with head was developed for common softwood façades. Whether the 64 mm version is suitable for a specific façade assembly depends on the wood species, board thickness, substructure, edge distances and required penetration depth.

The blunt anti-splitting point reduces the splitting effect when the wooden nail is driven. This helps to minimise the risk of cracking near the edge of the façade board. The required edge and spacing distances for the respective assembly must nevertheless be observed.

The 6.3 mm head increases the bearing surface on the fixed timber component. It supports controlled setting of the nail and remains visible as a defined fastening point on the timber surface. As both the head and shank are made of wood, the result is a consistent fastening appearance without visible metal parts.

The LIGNOLOC® wooden nail with head is installed using the FASCO® F60 CN15-PS90-H LIGNOLOC® pneumatic nailer. Its nail guidance, driving energy and depth adjustment are configured specifically for LIGNOLOC® wooden nails with head. Suitable older tools can be retrofitted for this application.

During pneumatic installation, friction between the wooden nail and the supporting timber generates heat. This activates the natural lignin in the wood and creates an intensive bond between the nail and the surrounding wood fibres. This effect is known as lignin adhesion.

Yes. The wooden nail with head was developed for timber façades and other outdoor applications. As the fastener is made entirely of wood, it does not cause rust marks or corrosion-related streaking on the timber surface. The principles of structural wood protection and the project-specific moisture conditions must be considered to ensure durable installation.

The LIGNOLOC® wooden nail with head can be used for suitable larch façade assemblies. The comparatively high density of larch, possible drying stresses, board dimensions and required edge distances must be taken into account. A test installation using the selected façade material is recommended before series installation.

The wooden heads can be sanded together with the surrounding timber surface and treated with a suitable finishing system. The properties of the wood species and the application instructions provided by the relevant oil, stain or coating manufacturer must be observed.
