Norwegerhaus – Außenansicht mit roter Holzfassade in Boden-Deckel-Schalung, befestigt mit LIGNOLOC® Holznägeln von BECK

Norwegian-Style timber Home

Austria

For the façade of this Norwegian-style timber home by Stampfl Bau, a classic board-and-batten cladding was used. The fastening has been carried out with LIGNOLOC® wooden nails, which could easily be painted red along with the façade after installation.

The façade of the home is finished in a bold, Scandinavian-inspired shade of red. To achieve a uniform appearance, the LIGNOLOC® wooden nails by BECK used for fastening were painted over in the matching shade of red together with the façade. The coloring does not affect the mechanical properties or the holding strength of the nails.

From the structural framework to the LIGNOLOC® wooden nails used to fasten the board-and-batten siding, only wood was used in the construction of the home. From the outset, the focus in building this unique home was on ensuring that all wood components could be reused at the end of their life cycle: the use of LIGNOLOC® wooden nails enables a sustainable construction method and homogeneous separation of wood elements.

Detail: Board-and-batten siding with LIGNOLOC® wooden nails

The board-and-batten siding consists of a two-layer vertical cladding. First, the base boards are fastened to the substructure with a gap between them. Narrower battens are then installed to cover the gaps. This construction method provides protection against driving rain, ensures proper ventilation behind the façade, and allows for design variety through different board widths and surface treatments.

In this project, the façade boards were fastened with 78 mm long LIGNOLOC® wooden nails, which could easily be painted together with the façade.
